Books, Breaks, and New Beginnings

My last post here was in November of 2021. Call it 17 months or a year-and-a-half if you round up. Why did I stop posting? Several reasons, if I remember correctly:

Life got really hard. In a lot of ways.

I ran out of margin. In a lot of ways.

Maybe I was in despair or something like it? I’m not sure, to be honest.

But I learned some things over the past Year+. And some things happened that made me think that I’m probably supposed to keep doing this writing, speaking, teaching thing:

  1. I wrote another book, one that is not yet published, but I bet you can guess what it’s about. (Hint: I started this publication to force myself to write raw material for books.) It’s the first in a series, by the way.

  2. I miraculously (I’ll tell you the story some time) got a legitimate, no-doubt, top-shelf literary agent named Don. He’s Canadian and an agent, so somehow he is both very nice and entirely un-push-overable.

  3. I’ve met some interesting people in the publishing industry who have been very encouraging about what we’re doing here.

  4. I’ve been helping other book-makers as a writer, editor, etc.

  5. I’m still preaching a few times a year at my church, which has generated even more book ideas (surprise). I also dropped by some friendly podcasts.

That’s enough for now, but I wanted to let you know that you can expect some fresh word-message-thought batches from me in the near future, starting now, and that my goal is still, after all this time, to be an encouragement to you in your own Formation; spiritual, relational, cultural, political even. And I still think following Jesus is the best way to become who God made us to be. So that’s what we’re going to do here, again; I hope you stick around.
